HARTFORD CITY KICK OFF 2022 NPSL SEASON WITH A ROAD TRIP TO KINGSTON

Hartford, CT – After a historic 2021 season where Hartford City FC won the NPSL North Atlantic Conference Championship, the Colts will begin their 2022 league campaign on Saturday, May 7 as they hit the road to face an all-too familiar foe, Kingston Stockade FC. Kickoff at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, NY is set for 6pm.

A LOOK BACK AT AN UNFORGETTABLE 2021

Hartford City took a major step forward in club history last season by winning both the North Atlantic Conference Regular Season title with a 6-2-2 record, and the Conference Playoff tournament after successive home victories against Valeo FC in the Semifinals and Kingston in the Final. By winning the conference title, it meant that Hartford City would not only advance to the East Regional Tournament Semifinals, but qualified the organization into the main tournament field of the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Hartford City bowed out of the East Regional Tournament in the Semifinals to eventual East Champion and National Semifinalist FC Baltimore Christos by a narrow 1-0 margin.

WHO’S BACK, AND WHO’S NEW FOR 2022

Head Coach Nick Balistierri welcomes back several of his core group of players from last season, and it starts with Hartford’s stalwart in the midfield, Mark Grant. The long-time Colt garnered NPSL National, Regional and Conference XI accolades during the 2021 season and will look to replicate that success on the field this year. Additionally, All-Conference XI defender Billy Jones returns to the fold along with Hartford City veterans Daniel Jones and Noah Silverman.

Amongst the 2022 newcomers, Alfonso Vazquez will suit up for the Colts after spending the last two seasons with USL Championship side Hartford Athletic. The native of Windham, CT has already appeared for Hartford City this season as he was named in the Starting XI in the 3-0 Open Cup First Round loss to Oyster Bay United in March, and he will look to add his goal scoring prowess to a team that averaged over two goals per game last year.
